Debbie Ohala-Bastres - Owner, Master Colorist and Stylist

 

Debbie has been a working, licensed cosmetologist for more than 35 years. She has managed and/or owned salons for more than 17 years. CrossCuts Salon, which opened in January 2018, is her first solo venture. It’s a small gem of a salon—one that is comfortable, relaxing, and fun to visit.

 

As a result of her lifetime love for the fine arts, Debbie showcases the artwork of local artists in CrossCuts, providing an ever-changing landscape of beautiful things to look at and purchase (in support of local artisans), all while receiving her top-notch hair-care services.

 

Although experienced with numerous color lines, Alfa Parf—an Italian color line—is her favorite. Debbie started painting and using her innate sense of color when she was a little girl. Her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts helped cement her artistic skills, especially the principles of color and design, which have led to her mastery of style and color to provide her clients with the look they desire.

 

Debbie is passionate about her creative efforts and is thankful to work at something she loves. Above all, she is grateful to her clients, without whom the life she has created wouldn’t be possible!

Erica Alexander, Master Hair Designer and Colorist

 

Erica graduated from Paul Mitchell the School in 2004. Her love of hairstyling has led her to work in Utah, Nevada, and since 2007, Colorado. She has spent her career mastering the techniques of color and cutting, and continues to learn about new and unique approaches to hair design. Her specialties in hair care include blonde and red hair coloring, extensions, and keratin-smoothing treatments.

 

When not busy at work, Erica is at home with her husband and six children. The children in their blended family range in age from 6 to18 years old. Free time is a rarity, but when she does have some free time, Erica loves to travel, have kitchen dance parties, paddle board, hike, and camp.

Annalyse Bastres, Nail Tech and Junior Stylist

 

Annalyse is the newest addition to the CrossCuts Salon staff as a fully licensed cosmetologist. She graduated from the Colorado cosmetology program in the late spring, after which she completed an apprenticeship in Lafayette. Her natural artistic and creative abilities are evident in the multiple awards she received for nail and makeup design while attending the program, as well as in the work she has accomplished postgraduation.

Annalyse’s love for doing nails and hairstyles on her dad and aunt at a very young age led to her passion for all things hair, nails, and makeup. She especially loves special-effects makeup and has spent many hours creating outstanding frightening and otherworldly makeup designs using herself as the canvas. That aside, she can craft a smokey eye or natural and glam looks like nobody’s business!

Annalyse loves to learn and is excited to share her passion for haircutting, hair coloring, and hairstyling. She has a special affinity for many types of braiding, and loves to create intricate and complex braided hair designs. She loves exploring new nail media, expressing her creative spirit through nail art, or simply perfecting a beautiful set of shiny nails. Annalyse is excited to share her talents with others.

In her free time, she continues to work toward a bachelor’s degree in forensic psychology. Any time not spent at work or in pursuit of her degree, she devotes to training and playing with, Zucca, a rowdy Pitbull mix who is the love of her life; lifting weights; or burying her nose in a good book!
